PTSD and Trauma

Understanding Trauma and PTSD

Trauma can occur in various settings, including home, work, and during global events like the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s not the event itself but how you personally experience it that defines it as traumatic. Common traumatic events include:

  • Violent or sexual assault
  • Mugging or witnessing violence
  • Traumatic loss
  • Childbirth
  • Road traffic accidents
  • Life-threatening illnesses
  • Natural disasters and pandemics

What is PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. It affects anyone, not just war veterans. In fact, 7 out of every 100 people will experience PTSD at some point in their lives.

Esther’s Story of Healing

Esther sought help during the lockdown (December 2020) due to anxiety from traumatic experiences related to childbirth and losing family members. Her journey with Hypnotherapy and Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) has been transformative. Watch her testimonial.

Symptoms of Trauma

While fear in dangerous situations is natural, ongoing symptoms can disrupt daily life. These can range from mild to severe and may include:

  • Anxiety and hyper-vigilance
  • Flashbacks and intrusive thoughts
  • Feelings of disconnection or listlessness

When reminders of the trauma trigger the fight-or-flight response unnecessarily, this indicates PTSD, which may affect one in three people who have experienced trauma.

Hypnotherapy for PTSD

If you’re struggling with PTSD, especially heightened symptoms due to recent events, hypnotherapy, Rewind Technique and IEMT can provide effective relief. These methods promote relaxation and help process traumatic memories without medication, offering rapid results by addressing the underlying issues.
